CONNECTING COMMUNITY THROUGH OUTDOOR SPACES

Design Thinking - Fall ‘21

Create an innovative service that would be beneficial to the students and outdoor community of Oregon State University.

GOAL

The University already operates a fully functioning bike shop that performs repairs, tune-ups, and adjustments.

WHY

STOP

THERE?

Let’s design a service to help repair the clothing and textile gear that helps propel individuals into the outdoors.

A BIG REASON THIS IS IMPORTANT

The EPA reports that Americans generate 16 million tons of textile waste a year, equaling just over six percent of total municipal waste

On average, 700,000 tons of used clothing gets exported overseas and 2.5 million tons of clothing are recycled.

WITH THAT

:

I felt that I should try to design a service to reduce the textile waste that is coming out of my local community and University.

We will create a gear repair service, which will:
